We are a venture funded automotive product start-up developing a mechanical device which improves vehicle energy efficiency. We are seeking an experienced Director of Customer Experience to identify and implement strategies to leverage ongoing, superior customer experiences. The Director will support and partner closely with the Sales team to ensure they have the resources needed to acquire and retain customers by providing superior, front-line customer service and resolving customer inquiries quickly and efficiently. The Director will develop, update, and deliver trainings and collateral to sustain superior customer service practices and manage and coach a team of field service engineers.


  • Design, develop, and execute reliability testing on current and newly developed products and technologies
  • Develop designs of experiments (DOEs) to rapidly understand product weaknesses and failure modes
  • Develop analysis tools to facilitate rapid processing of test data and delivery to cross-functional teams
  • Perform statistical analysis on lab test data and field test data to expand the team’s understanding of product performance and risk
  • Support the development of accelerated test methods
  • Support development of new test fixtures, fixture improvements, and fixture maintenance protocols
  • Write test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Develop standardized test methods
  • Support DFMEA and PFMEA development
  • Support development of a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Provide cross-functional engineering teams with system failure assessments
  • Support DFMEA and PFMEA development


  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant industry experience with a Bachelor’s in related engineering discipline or a 5+ years of relevant industry experience plus a Master’s degree in related engineering discipline
  • Extensive experience in reliability test design, development, and execution
  • High aptitude for mechanical design
  • Strong intuition for rapid determination of failure root causes
  • Sound understanding of mechanical physics of failure, engineering first principles, and statistics
  • Experience in accelerated test methodologies
  • Proficient in Excel and MATLAB
  • Experience in operating sensorized test fixtures
  • Skilled in rapidly processing large datasets and drawing succinct conclusions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excited about working in small, face-paced, cross-functional teams
  • Highly values cross-training and skillset development


  • Weibull statistical analysis
  • LabView or similar data acquisition systems
  • Automotive test methods and standards
  • Testing pneumatic systems
  • Vibration testing and analysis
